Diabetes, Integrative Health,

According to estimates given by the CDC, 2 out of 5 Americans or about 40% of men and women will develop diabetes in their lives. Results of this study were published online in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology.

There are many factors that can determine type 2 diabetes. I could speculate that stress and obesity are all big factors that could contribute to the rise of so many people potentially developing diabetes. I urge all of my patients to always adopt a happy, healthy lifestyle and to be mindful of their environment. This means being aware of what kind of food they are eating and how it is being cooked. Are they doing some sort of physical activity at least 3 times a week? How are they managing the stress in their life? All of these questions are things that all of us need to look at.

One thing is for sure, following the crowd is probably not the best way to manage your lifestyle. Many Americans will have to deal with the sobering fact that they will become one of the 40% of Americans with Diabetes in their lifetime. Whether you have already developed diabetes or haven’t, what are you doing today that will help you continue to be around for your loved ones for an extended period of time? You can always give my office a call for an appointment and I will be more than happy to work with you on developing a game plan to maintain your health.
