Boss

[dropcap]I[/dropcap] can empathize with anyone in this position. I have been in situations where I felt undervalued or was ready to take on more responsibility. It’s hard not to get frustrated with a situation like that. I know it was pretty hard for me when I was going through it, but the key thing to realize is that not being offered a promotion probably isn’t a fatal blow to your career, even if you might have some irrational thoughts making you feel that way.

According to a survey, eight in 10 U.S. workers say they are stressed at work. The survey was conducted by Nielsen on behalf of Everest College. There were many reasons given by people about being stressed out from work. Missing out on getting a promotion would undoubtedly add more stress to those work-related stressors that already exist.

When I realized a particular job situation wasn’t going to work out for me, I began making more time for exercise and focused on trying to find a solution to my current situation. This allowed me an outlet to relieve my stress. I also didn’t allow myself the opportunity to get down on the situation or myself. Tackling my work life in this manner at least allowed me to avoid getting into any health issues during that time.

I must admit though in my life usually things have always been able to work themselves out. I think for many of us that’s a big part of the problem, we are too impatient to wait and see what life will bring to us next. When I was a lot younger I too would get impatient waiting for my next job offer to come through. I am not saying that we should just sit back and wait for something to happen, I just think forcing an issue or problem may not be the best way to tackle the problem.

Is it possible that the person they hired instead of you won’t be a good fit for the position? Which will cause that person to leave and open up the position again? Or is it possible that you are just happy with the job you have right now because of your busy home life? These are just some things to think about when they might have passed on you for the promotion or job you were expecting. In the meantime, I would suggest to pay extra attention to your health during a stressful time like this and focus on what is going right in your life.
